NeoPwn : The first network auditing distribution for mobile phone released

The NeoPwn Mobile Pentesting project is proud to announce that it is merging with BackTrack, to produce the first ever BackTrack Mobile suite!

The migration of the NeoPwn project will give way to a sharp development team, focused on fully supporting the Nokia N900 mobile phone. Future plans of the project will extend support for other mobile devices as they become compatible.

This is an exciting leap from the original project, as there are incredible improvements in hardware, usability and its open source nature. Community support will be provided and users will be encouraged to take part once the project is released.

The OS will be a free download! Preconfigured hardware will be available for purchase on the Neopwn.com website, for those who do not wish to install the OS themselves on the device.

And for those that currently have the Nokia N900 mobile phone and who have expressed interest in the second coming of the project - we have a few surprises in store... stay tuned!

Running on a well balanced mix of open source hardware and network security testing software, NeoPwn has been a long awaited pocket penetration testing platform. This is the first ever network auditing distribution for a mobile phone.

The NeoPwn uses the base platform of the Openmoko Neo Freerunner, which offers USB WLAN support, a GPS Modem, a GPRS Modem for cellular connectivity, and an CSR based Bluetooth module. The USB hostmode will also allow for a range of other devices and peripherials.

Neopwn runs on an optimized FULL custom Debian operating system that boots off of a microSD card with a custom Linux kernel, with a vast support range for module drivers, allowing the network security tester the ability to perform various network penetration auditing tasks that are normally carried out on a notebook or desktop workstation.

We offer complete hardware setups as well as a standalone customized operating system (with custom driver module and kernel support). We can also deliver custom features and support options upon request for hardware or software that isn’t standard with our systems.

Operating System & Software Stack

The NeoPwn network auditng system’s core is a modified Linux 2.6.24 kernel, with cross-compiled module driver support for the numerous compatible addon devices running on a FULL Debian (ARMEL) operating system.

The filesystem has been optimized for performance and size and includes the NeoPwn menu system and several GUI dialogs for hardware control and attack automation.

Simplifying the process of performing many of the common attack vectors, Neopwn incorporates several GUI dialogs for WEP cracking (client and clientless), Caffé Latte Attack, KARMetasploit, and WPA handshake capturing.

Neopwn also includes point and click hardware control features - which ease the tasks of managing its hardware in a complex Linux operating system environment.

Activating one of a number of system hardware services is also included with our GUI and menu thus greatly making the NeoPwn much easier to manage since there isn’t much need for command line hardware control.

Many open source penetration testing applications have been ported specifically to the NeoPwn, and include (but not limited to):
