Vulnerability Note VU#656593Online Media Technologies NCTSoft NCTAudioGrabber2 ActiveX stack buffer overflowsOverviewThe Online Media Technologies NCTSoft NCTAudioGrabber2 ActiveX control contains multiple stack buffer overflows, which may allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.I. DescriptionOnline Media Technologies, which was formerly known as NCT Company, provides multimedia ActiveX controls for Microsoft Windows systems. The NCTAudioGrabber2 ActiveX control, which is provided by NCTAudioGrabber2.dll, contains multiple stack buffer overflows.II. ImpactBy convincing a user to view a specially crafted HTML document (e.g., a web page or an HTML email message or attachment), an attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user.III. SolutionWe are currently unaware of a practical solution to this problem. Online Media Technologies has indicated that they will not be providing any updates for NCTSoft ActiveX controls. Please consider the following workarounds:Disable the NCTAudioGrabber2 ActiveX control in Internet Explorer
