The jabber_idn_validate function in jutil.c in the Jabber protocol plugin in libpurple in Pidgin before 2.10.10 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from process memory via a crafted XMPP message.

Description: Jacob Appelbaum and an anonymous person discovered that Pidgin incorrectly handled certificate validation. A remote attacker could exploit this to perform a man in the middle attack to view sensitive information or alter encrypted communications. A malicious remote server or a man in the middle could use this issue to cause Pidgin to crash, resulting in a denial of service.
