Detail
A security issue affects the following Ubuntu releases: Ubuntu 4.10 (Warty Warthog) Ubuntu 5.04 (Hoary Hedgehog) The following packages are affected: mysql-server The problem can be corrected by upgrading the affected package to version 4.0.20-2ubuntu1.6 (for Ubuntu 4.10), or 4.0.23-3ubuntu2.1 (for Ubuntu 5.04). In general, a standard system upgrade is sufficient to effect the necessary changes. Details follow: AppSecInc Team SHATTER discovered a buffer overflow in the "CREATE FUNCTION" statement. By specifying a specially crafted long function name, a local or remote attacker with function creation privileges could crash the server or execute arbitrary code with server privileges. However, the right to create function is usually not granted to untrusted users. |
