A vulnerability was discovered and corrected in git (gitweb):

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Gitweb 1.7.3.3 and previous versions allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML code via f and fp variables (CVE-2010-3906).

The updated packages have been patched to correct this issue.

Gitweb contains a flaw that allows a remote cross-site scripting (XSS) attack. This flaw exists because the application does not validate the 'f' and 'fp' parameters upon submission to the index.php script. This may allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser within the trust relationship between their browser and the server.
