Detail
Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in Squirrelmail, a commonly used webmail system. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project identifies the following problems: CAN-2005-1769 Martijn Brinkers discovered cross-site scripting vulnerabilities that allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML in the URL and e-mail messages. CAN-2005-2095 James Bercegay of GulfTech Security discovered a vulnerability in the variable handling which could lead to attackers altering other people's preferences and possibly reading them, writing files at any location writable for www-data and cross site scripting. For the old stable distribution (woody) these problems have been fixed in version 1.2.6-4. For the stable distribution (sarge) these problems have been fixed in version 1.4.4-6sarge1. For the unstable distribution (sid) these problems have been fixed in version 1.4.4-6sarge1. We recommend that you upgrade your squirrelmail package. |

17874 | SquirrelMail options_identities.php Variable Overwrite Privilege Escalation SquirrelMail contains a flaw that may allow a malicious user to escalate privileges. The issue is triggered by overwriting the previously set $_POST variable, which may allow the attacker to read or modify the preferences of arbitrary users. |
17873 | SquirrelMail Multiple Unspecified XSS SquirrelMail contains a flaw that allows a remote cross-site scripting (XSS) attack. This flaw exists because the application does not validate the contents of email or URLs. This may allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser within the trust relationship between their browser and the server. |
17361 | SquirrelMail Unspecified Crafted Email XSS SquirrelMail contains a flaw that allows a remote cross-site scripting (XSS) attack. This flaw exists because the application does not validate the user-submitted contents for HTML or scripting sent through a URL or email message upon submission to an unknown script. This may allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser within the trust relationship between their browser and the server. |
17360 | SquirrelMail Unspecified URL Manipulation XSS SquirrelMail contains a flaw that allows a remote cross-site scripting (XSS) attack. This flaw exists because the application does not validate the user-submitted contents of a URL or email message through unknown attack vectors. This may allow a user to create a specially crafted URL that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser within the trust relationship between their browser and the server. |
