Buffer overflow in winword.exe 10.2627.6714 and earlier in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, before SP3 for Word 2002, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted mcw file.

16814 Microsoft Word mcw File Processing Overflow

A remote overflow exists in Microsoft Word for Windows. The application fails to perform proper bounds checking resulting in a buffer overflow. With a malformed *.mcw file created with Microsoft Word for Macintosh, a remote attacker can cause arbitrary code execution once the victim opens the file resulting in a loss of integrity.
