Detail
Revision Note: V1.2 (March 18, 2011): Added Windows 7 for 32-bit Systems Service Pack 1, Windows 7 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1, and Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-based Systems Service Pack 1 to Non-Affected Software. This is an informational change only. There were no changes to the security update files or detection logic.Summary: This security update resolves one publicly disclosed vulnerability and one privately reported vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker logged on locally and ran a specially crafted application. An attacker must have valid logon credentials and be able to log on locally to exploit these vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities could not be exploited remotely or by anonymous users. |

Title: | Windows Kernel Integer Truncation Vulnerability
Description: | The Trace Events functionality in the kernel in Microsoft Windows XP SP3 does not properly perform type conversion, which causes integer truncation and insufficient memory allocation and triggers a buffer overflow, which allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted application, related to WmiTraceMessageVa, aka "Windows Kernel Integer Truncation Vulnerability."

Title: | Driver Improper Interaction with Windows Kernel Vulnerability
Description: | Stack-based buffer overflow in the RtlQueryRegistryValues function in win32k.sys in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP1 and SP2, Windows Server 2008 Gold, SP2, and R2, and Windows 7 allows local users to gain privileges, and bypass the User Account Control (UAC) feature, via a crafted REG_BINARY value for a SystemDefaultEUDCFont registry key, aka "Driver Improper Interaction with Windows Kernel Vulnerability."

70823 | Microsoft Windows Kernel Trace Event (WmiTraceMessageVa) Handling Integer Tru... Microsoft Windows Kernel contains a flaw that may allow an attacker to gain access to unauthorized privileges. The issue is triggered when the kernel suffers from a bad conversion in its support for Trace Events, allowing a local attacker to cause a buffer overflow and gain elevated privileges which allow for the execution of arbitrary code under the context of the kernel. |
69501 | Microsoft Windows win32k.sys Driver GreEnableEUDC() Function Local Overflow Microsoft Windows is prone to an overflow condition. win32k.sys fails to properly process the 'GreEnableEUDC()' function, resulting in a buffer overflow. With a specially crafted 'SystemDefaultEUDCFont' registry value, a local attacker can potentially execute arbitrary code. |
