| 3977 | Symantec Norton Anti-Virus /tmp/LiveUpdate.log Symlink Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine contains a flaw that allows a local user to create or append to arbitrary files. The issue is due to the liveupdate.sh script relying on static filenames provided by the liveupdate.conf file. Specifically, the "logfile=/tmp/LiveUpdate.log" entry allows attackers to create a symlink before this file is created which lets them create an arbitrary file, or append log data to arbitrary existing files. |
