Evolution GUI Beta 2 released

Thursday 23 August 2007

Evolution is a new really good software for footprinting and data mining released by Roelof Temmingh, ex-SensePost founder (sensepost released some beautiful tools as well as bidiblah, suru and wikto) and now Paterva.com.

Here are notes from Roelof about this release

The following is important to note:

Before you use it, YOU NEED TO UPDATE THE CONFIG FILE!

If you are using Mac/*Nix you’ll find it in the bin/ directory - evolution.conf If you are on Windows - its in Program Files/Paterva/Evolution/bin/ evolution.conf

Please update the config file with your credentials - the LinkedIn creds are super important - see later. * Nothing has been changed in the look & feel of the GUI, but a lot of new transforms have been added.

These include:

Social network "find friends/contacts" transform. Supported networks are:
- facebook
- linkedin (if using *own* credentials and only 2 hops)
- bebo
- flickr
- orkut

A couple of other networks has been added as well. A lot has been done around the infrastructure stuff as well.

Finally - the wiki edit transforms has also been incorporated...:)

All & all, it is a massive update in terms of transforms from the first beta. The next version of the GUI will focus on the GUI itself, with things like load/save/print/etc, relative weights, filters and layers, etc. etc.
